IPSWICH CITY HEART – NICHOLAS STREET PRECINCT

PROJECT

Ipswich City Heart – Nicholas Street Precinct

B&P reinvigorated the CBD centre to make it the heart of the community

The CBD area was run down with newer shopping areas detracting customers – the CBD needed a new lease on life to create a new city heart.

The former pedestrian mall was converted into a vast open space that could double as an outdoor venue. This included a familyfriendly environment with a water play area, a multi-level council administration building, a state-of-the-art library, entertainment precinct, plus food and beverage areas with integrated landscaping and upgrades to Nicholas Street and Union Place.

B&P provided a detailed F&B strategy to identify a new customised food and beverage mix focussing on promoting local food tenants and reinvigorating the CBD centre.

OUTCOMES

  • Food & beverage dining precinct created
  • A thriving community square delivered
  • 150 metres activated retail frontage to create a bustling environment
