Design Review – Melbourne Central

OUTCOME

  1. Cup Cake Central
Even though this tenant was an experienced operator with a quality product, a review of their initial design of an L-shaped counter indicated the retailer had not clearly investigated the likely traffic flow and customer sightlines and so had positioned its most critical menu lines on the wrong counter front. We were able to educate the retailer about the risk of his design and have him willingly modify his design. This has resulted in a more profitable outcome for this retailer.
  2. Schnitz
This franchise store had a ‘fast food brand’ mandate to only have POS systems on the counter. This was against the Melbourne Central vision or fresh food. We worked with the franchisor to understand how to incorporate fresh elements from their menu onto the front counter. This resulted in a significant deviation to the Schnitz store model and has been delivering improved financial results compared to the standard Schnitz store.
  3. Dumpling King
After an initial approach by leasing, Dumpling King were reluctant to sign up for Melbourne Central. Leasing asked us to approach the retailer independently and we were able to negotiate a meeting. B&P spent time detailing the Melbourne Central vision and how Dumpling King could tailor its offer to get the right fit. We demonstrated to Dumpling King the flaws in their current menu and store designs and how to fix them. Dumpling King signed the lease and continued to work with us throughout the design development to an outstanding new store.
